Lady Stags Soccer Remains Unbeaten

While they were scored upon for the first two times this season, the defending state champion Deer Park Lady Stags soccer team remained unbeaten.

Ella Carnahan proved quickly why she was a first week pick for one of the WIAA athletes of the week with a tally only a minute into the road contest. After Deer Park had taken a 2- 0 advantage, the home standing Scotties tallied three goals and Deer Park trailed for the first time in the 2022 campaign.

Carnahan took matters into her hands with the equalizing tally in the 78th minute (two minutes remained) then added the “golden goal” four minutes into extra play. The final two goals featured assists from the Lady Stags strong- footed goalkeeper Hannah Krantz, who also scored their second goal on a length of the field kick that bounded over the Freeman goalkeeper.

The next day Deer Park returned home for a contest with Medical Lake. Several Lady Stags seniors seized the opportunity to fill the stat sheet. Grace Martinson tallied two goals in the opening four minutes, finishing with four goals and a pair of assists. Carnahan added four goals to the effort and added a helper. Brooklyn Dryden assisted on four goals.

The short trip to Riverside was on tap for Thursday. While the offense might have been slowed a bit in comparison to some of the early season outings, the Stags outshot the Rams 27- 3.

Two goals from Carnahan, one from Brook Gregory and one from Dryden, as well as an assist made for a 4- 1 road victory.
