Deer Park Baseball go to state for the first time in 30 Years

6th grader at Riverside Middle School has goals

Kaylee Geller 6th grade at Riverside Middle School wins second place in her class at the Eastern Washington State Championships in Wenatchee, WA! Kaylee started shooting in the Spokane Jr. Rifle club in June 2021. She started in the Sporter air rifle division as many new shooters do. With the help of coaches and lots of practice she moved into the Precision Air Division. Then, in the spring of this year she moved into the Small-Bore division where she continued to practice 2 nights a week. She has dedicated herself to the sport and wants to go to the Olympics where she will compete in the Air-Rifle and Small- bore competitions. Kaylee has also earned the titles of Marksman, Pro-Marksman, Marksman 1st class, and Sharpshooter through the National Rifle Association. Along her way, Kaylee has made new friends and life long teammates. She has learned the meaning of sportsmanship, working together, and helping others when they need it. Goal setting was another trait that she has been taught by her coaches. Shooting at these small targets is not as easy as it looks. Like in many other sports, it takes full time dedication and practice. Kaylee’s scores have been improving since she started. With those efforts, Kaylee was joined by two other teammates to take the top three positions at this tournament. Her and a buddy took 1st all around in their division. Kaylee will continue to practice one night a week throughout the summer to maintain her skills and to achieve the goals that she has set for herself.
